Basically, the PPAMS is about music. It started with a group of people wanting to share their talents and love of this art form with other musicians while learning from them. In just a couple short years, this group of musicians found themselves in the middle of a network of regional musicians. Soon, they were acting as a conduit for talent to reach the ears and hearts of the local populous. The Piping Plover Acoustic Music Society was born.

In January of 1998, the PPAMS incorporated as a non-profit organization and began the work of helping struggling musicians hone their talents and share their art while entertaining, and enriching, the community.

Since early 1996, thousands of people have come through the doors seeking an outlet for their creativity in the form of music and/or the spoken word and left the PPAMS venue fulfilled and entertained.

Although, the Piping Plovers are an "acoustic" music society by name, they encourage all forms of musical and vocal expression. A homogenous of sound has been heard from the Plover stage. Jazz, Bluegrass, folk, classical, chamber, rock, classic rock, punk and country are just some of the forms of music which have delighted the Piping Plover fans and artists.

Mission Statement

The reason for which this corporation was organized is to provide an open stage where all musicians are welcome to perform in an atmosphere of unconditional respect for each individual's creativity and to promote music and the spoken word in the local community for cultural and educational purposes.
