Community Outreach
Activities include:
- Emergency Food
and Shelter
MIHS provides assistance through Comprehensive Emergency Assistance
System (CEAS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Low
Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LI-HEAP). Services provided are
emergency food, mortgage and rent assistance, rental security assistance
and utility assistance.
- Group Transportation
Transportation is provided to seniors during nontraditional hours, by
special arrangement. Twenty-four hour notice is requested for doctor
appointments and shopping trips. Transportation is provided for others,
too, such as Summer Mini-Camp and the Learning Center.
- Information and
Referral
Our service networking system provides information and referral for
all ages, gender, race and religious background.
- Case Management
and Counseling
The case management department organizes and implements plans to promote
the general welfare of the community, individuals and families. A case
manager helps clients develop a course of action through planning, advice
and consultation.
