Atlantic City Habitat Initiative

Progress continues on development on the two Habitat units on Hobart Ave., Atlantic City. Completion is anticipated in the next few months. Habitat for Humanity Atlantic County is joining with Habitat Affiliates around the world to celebrate “Building on Faith” week with a Block Party on Sept. 7, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. The event will be held at our current building site located at 712 and 714 Hobart Ave., Atlantic City. Church BAR-BQ Supports Habitat Mission
The Zion United Methodist Church, 652 Zion Road, EHT will hold a fund raiser barbecue on Saturday, Sept.14, 2002 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity Atlantic County. CLICK HERE for Details

The TraceyHouse Boardwalk 5k Run/Walk was held August 17, 2002 on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, in front of Tropicana Casino. The entire Absegami High School football team joined a wide-range of participants from throughout Atlantic and surrounding counties in supporting the Tracey House Foundation and Habitat For Humanity AC. TraceyHouse Boardwalk 5K Run / Walk

The First Annual TraceyHouse Boardwalk 5k Run/Walk will be held Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 8:00 AM on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in front of the Tropicana Casino.         Top of Page

The First Annual TraceyHouse Boardwalk 5k Run/Walk will serve as a loving tribute to Tracey Powers who died tragically last June while studying abroad in Ecuador. The race will raise funds for Galloway Township's first Habitat for Humanity home. This home, which Tracey and her older sister Amy both played a large role in establishing, will be called TraceyHouse.

Pat DeMarco of 103.7 WMGM will host the event and Vai Sikahema, of NBC10 will participate in the race and serve as honorary starter.

The mission of the TraceyHouse Foundation is to promote youth volunteerism in memory of Tracey Powers, who would have graduated with Absegami's Class of 2002. Tracey was an avid runner and former president of Absegami High School's chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Habitat For Humanity Atlantic County, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose goal is to eliminate poverty or sub-standard housing in the community, one house at a time.  See information flyer (pdf)

The hosting address for the Habitat Web site is now changed to http://nonprofits.aclink.org/habitat/. ACLink will continue to host the affiliate pages, but the site has been moved to a new server. A temporary  "pointer page" will be provided by ACLink to automatically  forward Habitat visitors from the old address to our new location. The Builders League of South Jersey held fundraisers and Habitat build-days this year to support Habitat for Humanity of Atlantic County, Metro Camden Habitat for Humanity, and Burlington County Habitat for Humanity. The Builders League annual 5K Race in April raised $6,000 for the Habitat affiliates.( See BL-SJ press release ) For more information on the Builders League visit ~  http://www.blsj.com/blsj/index.cfm

We have a new office location in Ventnor. Our mailing address is the same, however the phone number is changed to 487.9472.

Our Annual Habitat For Humanity Golf Outing is July 14 at Mays Landing Country Club. Details to follow but mark the date. Registration Form (pdf file)

• 12:30 Registration and 1:30 Shotgun Scramble.
• Cost is $100 per golfer and includes hot dogs and soda at registration and a barbecue afterward. There will be awards and prizes.
• The registration form is not available yet.   
• Looking for sponsors, awards and golfers.

Habitat is partnering with Tracey House Foundation for a 5K Run to be held  August 17th on AC Boardwalk.
