Habitat Events Notes and Plans ~ 2002

Annual Habitat Golf Event July 14th

The 3rd Annual Habitat For Humanity Golf Outing is scheduled for July 14, 2002 at Mays Landing Country Club. We were so pleased with the service we received at Mays Landing Country Club that we will be going back again this year. We will soon be forming a golf committee so if you are interested in participating please call the Habitat office at 407-1775.

Golf notes from last year:
July 15, 2001 was a beautiful summer day for our 2nd annual golf outing. Over 70 golfers enjoyed a round of golf and dinner afterwards at Mays Landing Country Club. Thanks to the many area residents and businesses we were able to present the golfers with some nice awards and prizes. This event raised over $10,000 for our affiliate and we couldn’t have done it without those of you who supported the outing.    See Photo Page from last year's Habitat Golf Event..
A special “thank you” goes out to our corporate sponsors:

  • Cape Savings Bank
  • Central Glass Company
  • Commerce Bank, EHT
  • The Flagship
  • Platt’s Furniture
  • Teamsters Local 331, Pleasantville
  • Schade Engineering, Inc.

The many hours of hard work and dedication of the outstanding golf tournament committee led by Debbie Hoffer really paid off. Other committee members included Bob Flippen, Jerry Donovan, Mary Platt, Carol and Howard Schwartz, Nelson Geralds and Debbie Murray. The committee ants to recognize Sheila Morvay, Nikki Ellis, Carol Romano, Lisa Neaver, Karen Edwards, the Absegami Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and Dena Freimanis. Thank you to each and every one that donated items for awards and prizes, played golf, sponsored holes, made donations and volunteered the day of the cvcnt. The results of your contributions can be seen in the Habitat home located in Egg Harbor Twp that was completed in December 2001. You truly have made a positive impact in the life of a very grateful family. ( Notes by Debbie Murray, Habitat Exec.Dir. )

Silent Auction
The Atlantic City and County Board of Realtors forged ahead with another Silent Auction that was held at Ram’s Head Inn this past spring. It is just an amazing sight to see the items for auction that the Realtors come up with each year. This group of individuals worked tirelessly and raised over $14,000 for Atlantic County Habitat. It is such fun to join with them in a fund raising event. Our heartfelt thanks go to Peg Bessey, Cheryl Bessey, Vanessa Reale-Jones, Zelda Solof, Dolores Reale. Toni Jacovini, Harry Mehiman, Linda Maesano, Linda Benner and Julie Bader. Holly Payton, Habitat’s fund-raising contact for this event, as always, you are wonderful! Board member Shawn Donaldson, “our angel”, helped to make this event a huge success with the remarkable donations she made. It couldn’t have gone off without her.

Margate Fall Funfest - Sept. 28-29, 2002
The Margate Business Association chose Habitat For Humanity Atlantic County as a beneficiary of the Funfest that was held last year on September 28-29, 2001. Thank you for your generous contribution of $2,500 that you made to our affiliate. Many Habitat volunteers supported the event through setting up, staffing games and information tables and helping out wherever necessary. A special “thank you” to those who braved the cold, the wind and rain! It just goes to show you that Habitat volunteers are committed individuals who go the “extra mile” for the good of the organization.
